With seating for the formal Congressional swearing-in on Wednesday (January 5) limited to two persons per member, Congressman-elect James Lankford will hold a ceremonial swearing-in the day before on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.

Friends and supporters have been invited to witness the ceremony at 3 p.m., Tuesday, January 4 in the House Agriculture Committee hearing room, 1300 Longworth House Office Building in Washington, DC.

U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas, Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, offered the room to Lankford for the event.  Lucas will host those attending, as well as administering the oath to the new Congressman.

"I'm grateful to Congressman Lucas for his generosity in making this wonderful room available for this ceremony," said Lankford. "The Congressman has served his state and his nation with honor, and he wears the informal title of Dean of the Oklahoma House delegation with distinction.  I'm honored that he has made this historic room available to us, and that he has agreed to administer the oath.

"I'm also humbled by the opportunity to join 86 other new Republican members in the House, and getting down to serious business following the swearing-in, and tackling the fiscal challenges facing our nation," he continued.

"Cindy and I are happy to invite anyone and everyone to join us in the Longworth Building for this big day,” he added. "All of our friends who are coming to D.C. to celebrate this experience with us will be treated to a beautiful setting with a spectacular view of our nation's Capitol."

Official swearing-in for the 112th Congress will take place on Wednesday, January 5, in the House chambers inside the U.S. Capitol building.
