OKLAHOMA CITY – A U.S. Grant High School senior from south Oklahoma City has received a large academic scholarship covering most of her costs to attend The University of Oklahoma. She will be the first member of her family to attend college.

Gregoria Arredondo, 17, daughter of Maria and Francisco Arredondo, will enter OU next fall. “She has the honor of being the first student admitted to OU for the class of 2020,” said Greg Frederick, principal of U.S. Grant High School.

“It was my honor and privilege to recognize a truly exceptional student,” said state Rep. Richard Morrissette, who last week presented Miss Arredondo with a citation from the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Gregoria’s “hard work and commitment to academics during her time at U.S. Grant have earned her a well-deserved full scholarship to The University of Oklahoma,” the Oklahoma City Democrat said. “Her success in the classroom is the finest example of hard work being rewarded.”

Joining Rep. Morrissette as he presented the legislative citation to Arredondo were City Schools Superintendent Robert Neu and Gloria Torres, a Grant High board member and administrator.
